Ever have a problem with it? I do daily, and i'm not talking about eating or having sex, or playing too many video games. I'm talking about alcohol and drugs and excessive money spending (monies you dont have). I really don't know limits as far as those things go, and I find myself in trouble afterwards. I can't make those good decisions that some people can make in those states. Like you have 130 dollars in your account. This class you have to pay for is 120 dollars...and you buy a $10 drink and tip $1... now what? You don't get paid until next Thursday and you're going to get dropped from the class. These are my problems with alcohol. It's effecting my life that way, and when it comes to future and finances...I think that's where I need to draw some sort of line. Now is the hard part, so i've told myself to stop drinking or IF I do hang out to just have one drink and be the designated driver (that's another issue...driving drunk). Anyway, i'm not having much success with this no drink/one drink statute ive placed upon myself. So... theres no real answer to this problem. Other than just shutting myself in, or not hanging out...we know thats not going to happen. Some might say well "its easy to go broke if you dont have any money to begin with"...yeah i agree. But will my habits change once i get a real job...IF I get a real job? Just writing as i'm thinking...very journal like. unorganized thoughts. The best really. Keep you posted on this situation (pun intended).

So im back on this blogger thing my friends. My shit is fun to read b/c it's so quick and basically very rarely will it ever be as long as a posting Rajeev posts. Not b/c my shit is better but b/c i just dont have anything that i think i can extrapolate on as he did with that Simpsons post he just did. Basically i'm in New York City hanging with the fool right now. Listening to !!!. How good is that shit. At 0630am?! amazing I say. Amazing. Anyway what will go on tomorrow? Only God knows. Hurricane Katrina faces reality

Hurricane Katrina bore down on the gulf coast over the weekend building top speeds of 175 mph winds and gusts much faster. New Orleans was facing its worst nightmare, being drowned in almost 30 feet of water filled with graves, decaying bodies, toxic waste, and sewage. It was pretty close to over for the city that so many of us have come to know as "new orleans." However as of Monday morning around 5:25 est the storm met head on with a front that was moving across the southern states and carried Katrina due north and slightly east sparing New Orleans what basically could have been the end of the city as we know it. The old neighborhood known simply as the "French Quarter" was looking at being completely swept away. The old buildings and all the old school architechture was to be no more. However we still may be able to see New Orleans as it once was. The hurricane season is far from over. It ends November 30. September being the peak month, New Orleans isn't out of the line of fire yet. Now it missed New Orleans by about 30 miles, the eye that is, but what about the other cities? Gulfport, MS, where the population is about 25 percent that of New Orleans was in the direct line of the eye. What of those people? It's not so much that life will be lost as much as it is how MUCH life will be lost. We don't care about what we don't know/see/hear about. Hurricane Katrina turned from a CAT 5 storm "kill storm" into a CAT 4 storm as it made its second landfall in Louisiana this morning around 610am est. That saved most of the gulf from the devestation that was predicted from about Saturday on. Now Katrina is making her way north east and is situated over the north eastern portion of the state of Mississippi. It's time to face reality Katrina. You aint gonna be around for long. The loss of life is estimated at around 55, most of which occured in a single building collapse in Mississippi. This is as of 12:00am est. Tuesday morning. Ohio Valley look out in the next day or so you will be swamped with rain in the range of 2-4 inches which doesnt sound like much, but when you've been in a drought thats enough to cause some minor flooding. Some localized areas could stand to see around 6-8 inches of rain from the remnants not to mention the possible and likely threat of tornadic activity. The Northeast will see some strong thunderstorms from this system as it makes its way across the Ohio Valley and on into the region around Wednesday and on into Thursday. Scattered at best, nothing steady. Beautiful weekend ahead for the Northeast, New York City at least. Which is where im based out of. This is your weather blog report/update. Bringing Back The Fun @ rock shows!

I feel really inspired right about now. It'll end soon, guaranteed. Naw just the last couple shows went well and we gettin der...where? Went to see these bands last night that were absolutely amazing to me and then the oranges band played last and i dont think they were as good as the other bands. they were much tighter than the other bands and sounded really good. Style of music though wasnt necessarily my fav. The first band that went on was like a group of child looking white dudes from houston, TX called Bring Back The Guns. They were awesome. These guys do nothing but listen to and watch videos of at the drive in, which is a okay wit me. The lead singer was a showman x2 but not like obviously trying to put on a show for showmanship sake, he was like in his own world. Peep em'. The other band i'll make note of is Hockey Night who, i think, are from St. Paul. They were sweet. Lead singer was pretty had sweeping bangs and listened to too much Conor Oberst and Pavement. Which...that's sweet. They had a two drummer setup which i'm a huge fan of since seeing trail of dead and modest mouse use that setup. Hockey Night's second guitarist is the glue that holds the thing together. Hes amazing, from soloing to rhythmic scratching to stage presence. Bassist is boring to watch but i'm not writing on their live performances, im writing about their music. Keep and ear out for these guys. They're pretty. That brings me back full circle to Via Violenta...we're rockin' babee, YEAH! ...We do cameos!

what that title has to do with this entry, i do not know. thats a great segue into what i really want to talk about, which is politics circa 1931. right. why is there so much pressure on the physical appearance of an indie musician? or is this just me who feels this? i feel like we have to fit into this mold that has been pre cut for us. im so far from fitting into that mold. i know what it looks like, but can't get near it. even like going against the grain is a "style". i say the heck with it, lets all wear kenny rogers brand clothing. don't get me wrong, i love fashion. love it. i just compare myself to the likes of conor oberst, kings of leon, and yes, bloc party in terms of what an indie rock star is supposed to look like. now lets clear this up (mainly for myself) i am nowhere near "indie rock star" status. right. i guess you could say "it doesnt matter" or "who cares" but really on some level it does matter. nobody wants to see me on stage wearing a FUBU outfit, although... and nobody wants to see me on stage wearing a wifebeater and dickies. that doesnt fit in with the type of music we play, and crowd we draw. so it does matter. selling my appearance as well as the music. so that takes us back to the great depression...which for me hasn't ended.

so somehow i acquired another hard drive...now i have two. so i'm transferring all my media (mp3s, videos, raunchy and homeade lovemaking, and games) over to the new one so i can keep all that stuff on one hard drive. then my old one i'll just run programs and the what not from it, hopefully (in my head at least) speeding up applications and programs because the hard drive won't be anywhere near full (if i'm wrong on this let me know). however, the problem i'm running into is that the old hard drive had much of the same music as the stuff i'm transferring over. So now i have to go in and delete all the stuff that's double, which with over 5, 000 files of stuff, including full album folders, is going to take forever and a day. so that's where i'm at now. i'm not actually in need of glasses as you all thought from reading the title of the blog. now it's time for me to retreat to that state where everything is fake, all is a dream, no matter how bad things get...it'll all be okay...so it goes...

Responsibility Reshmonshibility

There's a certain level of responsibility that needs to be had by an individual that is over 18 and living on his or her own. But seriously, this isn't Gattaca! As long as things are getting paid...even if they're late...and people know they're coming late, AND ARE OKAY WITH IT...really people...what's the deal? Let's chill out and have fun while we still can. In about 5 years (if i'm not living in a house with the car ive always wanted rocking out and going to work in a studio with a guitar in hand) then i'll have plenty of responsibility. It's called work, family, MORE bills, BIGGER bills...and for the rest of my LIFE! Sucky sucky two buck chucky! I realize that rocking out doesn't excuse you from responsibility...oh wait! NO I DONT!

Electronic Hell

In this new age world of faster is better, bigger is better, and "less is the new more" we've managed to come so far where a person a few years back may or may not have had an e-mail address. These days i'm sure fools have many, many email address'. If they don't I have enough for them. I am now managing 4 different e-mail accounts. I don't even know why, that's what doesnt make any sense. All I do online is like constantly, in between reading up on the latest news with the indie rock scene, go back and forth between my different e-mail accounts checking my mail, and responding. It's like electronic mail instant messaging. EMIM. A much slower, 18th century, nonsensical way to communicate with the people who are on your buddy list about, pretty much, nothing. As there is never anything new under the sun. "Fitter, wiser, more productive..."
